What's in a Name?
1. "Borne" - a past participle of "bear"
–verb (used with object)
- to hold up; support; carry
- to hold or remain firm under (a load)
- to bring forth (young); give birth to
- to produce by natural growth
- to hold up under; be capable of
- to conduct (oneself)
- to carry in the mind or heart
- to transmit or spread; render; afford; give
- to lead; guide; take
- to exhibit; show
- to accept or have, as an obligation
- to possess, as a quality or characteristic
- to have and use; exercise
2. "Spirit" - that is, the Holy Spirit, the Third Person in the Godhead
Thus, "Spirit Borne" is a group whose Source, Support, and Subject is God Himself.
"That which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." (John 3:6)
"Men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit" (2 Peter 1:21)
"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life." (John 6:63)
