What's in a Name?

1. "Borne" - a past participle of "bear"

–verb (used with object)

  • to hold up; support; carry
  • to hold or remain firm under (a load)
  • to bring forth (young); give birth to
  • to produce by natural growth
  • to hold up under; be capable of
  • to conduct (oneself)
  • to carry in the mind or heart
  • to transmit or spreadrender; afford; give
  • to lead; guide; take
  • to exhibit; show
  • to accept or have, as an obligation
  • to possess, as a quality or characteristic
  • to have and use; exercise

2. "Spirit" - that is, the Holy Spirit, the Third Person in the Godhead 


 Thus, "Spirit Borne" is a group whose Source, Support, and Subject is God Himself. 


 "That which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." (John 3:6)

"Men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit" (2 Peter 1:21)

 

"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life." (John 6:63)
